Dental Veneers

For adults thinking about getting braces, dental veneers are the perfect alternative. Veneers correct the shape of the teeth that are not aligned correctly, or have gaps and/or spaces. With veneers, crooked teeth can be correct in as little as two weeks rather than spending months and years in braces. For older patients, who have always wanted straighter teeth, this technique is ideal. For those who have had braces in the past, but perhaps your teeth have shifted slightly over time, veneers are also the perfect solution to get a straight and aligned smile. What are porcelain veneers? Porcelain veneers, also called “porcelain laminates,” are molded porcelain shells that are used to create a new front surface to a tooth. These are thin sculpted pieces of tooth-shaped porcelain that fit over the front of the teeth and are the premier standard of care in cosmetic dentistry. Bonded permanently to the front surface of a tooth they can restore or improve the position and shape and color of the tooth. Veneers can make a dramatic, instantaneous difference to one’s smile and overall facial appearance. Dental veneers can also fix common problems such as the “gap-toothed look” (a gap between the front two upper teeth) or chipped, crooked, missing, discolored, pitted, or improperly positioned teeth. Porcelain veneers used to only be available to the very wealthy. Nowadays they are more accessible to the general population and a great way for many people to obtain the smile of their dreams. There is a special skill to cosmetic dentistry and our cosmetic dentists have extensive training in the art of smile design, which determines the right colors, angles, shapes, thickness, translucency, and occlusion that will best fit your smile. Veneers, along with occlusal adjustments, can have a profound impact on one’s appearance, often giving the same impression as a facelift. Because of this noticeable shift, veneers should be custom-designed to fit your face, smile, body, and personality. When done correctly, they should look and feel like real teeth. We encourage our patients to be as much a part of the veneer creation process as we are. This is your life and your smile. We want you to be satisfied with the results.

No-Prep Veneers/Lumineers No-Prep Veneers, also known by the name brand “Lumineers,” are increasingly becoming the popular choice for improving one’s smile. As suggested by their name, no-prep veneers do not require any drilling or filing to make the veneer fit your teeth. They are bonded onto your teeth so as not to look bulky. They give patients the cost-effective option to have their dream smile without the need for drills or numbing agents. No-prep veneers are also ideal for patients wanting to improve the look of just a few teeth that will have the effect of improving the appearance of their entire mouth. What is a no-prep veneer? Similar to porcelain veneers, no-prep veneers are thin porcelain veneers that bond to the front of your teeth. These improve the appearance, symmetry, color, and shape or your teeth. They have been around for decades and, while in the past they were discredited for lack of durability, today they have been improved significantly. The results of no-prep veneers today are beautiful, cost-effective, and long-lasting smiles. There are several benefits to no-prep veneers: less risk of sensitivity due to drilling, minimal need for preparation or time spent in the dentist chair, and no need for anesthesia. However, unlike traditional veneers, no-prep veneers do not last as long nor are they are durable. Patients thinking about getting no-prep veneers are advised to set up a consultation appointment before making any final decisions.
