Crowns
No matter how diligent you are with your oral hygiene, nearly everyone will need at least one Crown during their lifetime. Crowns are needed after a tooth has broken or decayed so much that it is too weak to function as a normal tooth. Crowns can also be used to protect a weak tooth before it has a chance to break. For aesthetic appeal, crowns can cover a misshapen or unsightly tooth, too. There is little preparation needed for a dental crown procedure. Patients will experience a little local anesthetic applied to the damaged tooth, and then the crown will be permanently cemented into place. Nowadays a crown is typically a porcelain crown, which not only matches the color of your teeth, but will also refract light similar to natural enamel. A crown can last up to 15 years. Crowned teeth do not require any special care – just normal brushing and flossing. Crowns are a safe and simple solution if you feel like you have a tooth that needs a drastic makeover.
